Ernest L. Coger Jr
has over 25 years of experience in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground utility work. His strong background in the operations and maintenance of street lighting comes form working in multiple utility settings such as Consumers Energy, Bay City Light and Power as well as the City of Detroit’s Public Lighting Department. Ernest became a sought after instructor by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He taught electrical theory for 19 years at IBEW in Detroit, MI. Many of those students have gone on to become linemen for companies in the Metro Detroit area or elsewhere. His understanding of how students learn in multiple ways gave him the edge to assist them in becoming successful in their class. Ernest was Bay City’s Safety Coordinator overseeing the proper and safe procedures for its team of utility workers. He has also instructed apprentice lineman in the art of climbing.
provides oversight and integration on all aspects of the operations for Stateline. She possesses more than 15 years of experience in leading high performing teams in cross-functional settings. She is also active in promoting and advocating for removing energy efficiency barriers in the market place both in the federal and state level. Her project management experience includes collaborative joint work with partners, customers and team members intended to deliver successful project completion that is on time and under budget. Most recently, Melanie has contributed in building Walker-Miller Energy Services’ success to become Habitat for Humanity’s Community Partner of the Year, INC Magazine’s 2014 and 2015, 5000 Fastest Growing Business in the US, 2014 Crain’s Cool Places to Work, SBA’s Small Business of the Year for 2015, and Michigan’s 50 Fastest Growing Companies. Most notably, Melanie was selected as Crain’s 2014 40 Under 40.
who serves as Stateline’s General Foreman has over 30 years of experience working as a lineman for the Public Lighting Department (PLD). In his previous role, Steve managed 15, 2-3 men crews working on the operations and maintenance of PLD’s assets. He has either performed or oversaw work completed on overhead or underground work. Whether it’s a transformer replacement, pothead, splicing, fixture replacement, directing work orders, dispatching crews, isolating circuits to be de energized, Steve has intricate knowledge of the system that enables him to be successful. His path to leadership comes from his experiences on being on the trenches and understanding the conditions of the system. Steve brings a wealth of asset and people management to get the job done successfully.
is a student in Wayne State University’s College of Engineering with a major in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Business Administration. She enjoys the endless possibilities to create things when you combine software and hardware development. Jeseekia uses her passion and aptitude for technology to modernize and advance Stateline. To positively impact diversity in STEM fields, she has served in many positions including the board of directors for the National Society of Black Engineers and a Co-Organizer/Instructor with Girl Develop It Detroit.
